UV sterilizers are one method of keeping a pool clean. Ultraviolet light will kill germs—or technically, the light alters the DNA of microorganisms so they cannot reproduce—and the use of UV light just requires pool water to flow through a unit and under the light. The use of a UV sterilizer does not eliminate the need for chemicals, but it can significantly reduce the need for added chemicals to keep the pool water clean.
