Factors That Affect the Price of In-Ground Pool Construction

There are many factors affecting the price of in-ground vinyl pool construction. Here are the most important ones.

Location

By “location” we mean your location, and the location of the pool. For example, if you are located in a tight downtown area where heavy equipment access will be difficult, that could increase the cost. Also, permitting requirements could be more complex, time-consuming, and costly in a downtown location compared to a rural location.

Then it also depends where the pool is on a property. Do several trees need to be cut down? Is the ground solid rock? The type of prep work required on any special terrain could potentially add to the cost compared to easy-access, flat ground, and soft dirt.

Size and Shape

Obviously, a bigger pool costs more than a smaller pool. But the shape is important, too. The more complex the shape, the more costly it will be. If everything else is equal, a simple, rectangular pool will be cheaper than other shapes.

Hardscape and Landscaping

The pool is one thing, but if you envision a big patio, outdoor kitchen, and extensive landscaping, that is going to significantly affect the overall project cost—not necessarily of the pool construction, but of the construction of the whole project. The least expensive option is a small, simple hardscape around the pool.

Other Equipment

There is a big range of equipment that can accompany a pool. This ranges from fairly simple to very sophisticated, and the size and power of the equipment needed will grow with the size of the pool. You will need filtration, heating, some kind of water treatment, and cleaning equipment.
